Bathroom accessories

Today we went to confirm with ID our shoe rack selection.. chosen a shiny laminate material. We are late for half an hour (with the usual travel time of 1 hour from our house to IMM). ID has another appointment later so he didn't have much time for us.

We purchase bathroom sink, tap, 2 x heater with shower head, water spray at total price of $680. It is at a shop at IMM recommend by ID.

Then we also chose our bathroom accessories and mirror at the same shop (which is included in the quotation). I am quite satisfied with our purchase today. Here are the fotos taken today :-

ID didn't done anyting this week... cos we onie confirm our paint colours on wed. Initially he wanted to discuss with us and the natural cool air-con contractor on our air-con piping and positioning of fan coil before he started painting. But now he say he is not going to wait so he will start painting on mon. The lighting is due to be delivered on this wed so M is taking half day leave for the delivery. Thus we also arrange for the air-con contractor to discuss on the same afternoon on the air-con piping. Hopefully this coming week we will be able to see the laminate flooring and laminate platform being done up. And hopefully the lighting can also be installed next week too so we can go see our house at night too.

We haven't purchase the flourscent tubes for inverted L box as we are not sure what length to buy. M will need to ask our ID for this.

Another concern at this point of time is.. we heard of the restriction on the floor to ceiling height imposed by HDB. Wonder after the platform installed for the cosy corner will it be affected? I think got to check with ID too.

kitchen hood, hob, sink, Oven

Our ID told us that he require the dimensions for carpentry. So we decide to place our orders for the kitchen hood, hob, sink and oven today. Both of us took half day off to look for light switches as well as to place order at Bellari. Previously we have taken a walk down upper serangoon/jalan besar road and found that we still prefer Bellari hood, hob. As for oven, i have placed an order for Cuizino oven with APS lifestyle as I find it cheaper. I have refer to the website (http://www.ehow.com/how_5329_choose-built-oven.html) before selecting the oven.

We are happy with our purchase at Bellari. We have aimed their easy package of $799 (chimney hood, tempered glass hob and sink + tap). The sink is a small one (single bowl) worth $99. We decide to upgrade the sink so need to top up money. All the double bowl ones cost more than $200. Headache for money now so we are in a dilemma today. Then the bellari sales asst told us that they have just order a new model and if we want we can purchase the display set at a discounted price (bec it is a display set). We like the double bowl a lot and its within our budget so we settled on that sink. The taps at bellari are also so nice and modern! We change the package tap to another one by topping $20. Here are some pictures:-

For light switches, we went Versammy road and found a whole row of electrical shops selling switches and other related pdts. We saw the MK switches and Legrand switches. MK switches are more expensive. M told me that our electrician is actually providing MK switches as our existing HDB switches are already MK. We found that MK switches look nicer so we decided to let our electrician buy instead. Have to top up another $100 for bigger 2-gang switches (as I like those big button switches :)

So much things accomplished today! We also called up our lighting supplier to confirm the delivery date.

Painting and carpentry selections

Today we went to IMM GPlan office to discuss with our ID on the painting colours and carpentry selections.

We rush from office and took train for 1 hour.. very tired.. then went to take a look for switches but found nothing.

Then we went to discuss with our ID on paint colours. We chose the following ICI dulux colours :-

1) Living room - Lily white
2) Master bedroom - Clear Blue
3) Study - Moonlight (purple)
4) Guest Bedroom - Barely green
5) Feature wall - dark brown
6) Cosy corner - browish grey

Next we choose our carpentry selections. I think we are quite fast in choosing as ID only give us 1 hour appt.. (he very busy recently with a lot of business). We chose the following selections:-

1) Kitchen cabinet - dark walnut for bottom cabinet, white for top cabinet with white solid surface. System door wood.
2) Wardrobe - brown laminate with glass panels in the middle
3) Vanity top - Black solid surface. White laminate with glass cabinets.

We forget to select our shoe rack laminate! .. tink we will choose glossy laminate for a change.. never mind will discuss with ID again.

ID bring us to one shop at IMM to select our sink. M found the prices are quite cheap and they also sell heaters, taps, shower heads, appliances etc. We may consider them.

Light fittings

Today we went to Lightcraft at Jalan Sultan to select our lightings. Previously ID has bring us to another shop at balestier and we find the selections quite nice. But price is a consideration for us and since Lightcraft may be able to give us more discount, we went in to take a look.

Our ID is supposed to meet us at the lights shop but he last minute cancel our appointment! So disappointed cos i was hoping he can give some advice. Anyway, we proceed with our lights selection and fall in love with the same pendant light for the dining area. It is not easy to have the same preference.

For down lights, they do not have matt aluminium but only matt silver linings. However the matt silver downlight we find it too big for our preference. So the lighting supplier actually suggested to spray the white coated down light (which has a smaller size) with matt silver. I am a bit skeptical on this so requested for a sample to see before he order in bulk.

The halogen downlights we chose are smaller ones as most of them are for ambience and no need too big luminance.

As for the normal lights for the bedrooms and toilets, we picked 3 types. One has a diffused blue lighting on the ceiling and we picked it for our master bedroom and both toilets. The other 2 bedrooms I picked a rather big round light. For the kitchen, we pick a medium size one. I am a bit worried on the kitchen light as i discovered that one lighting point is quite close to the clothes hanger. We measured at our house and the distance is about 4-6 inch.

We find that the lightcraft Jalan sultan outlet, compared to the parkmall outlet has less nicer lights, but the prices are v reasonable and selections range quite a lot (2 storey shophouse). I will strongly recommend Lightcraft :)

Took some fotos of our lighting below:
