Bedframe delivery

The bedframe from La Cafa supposed to deliver last saturday. Last minute just on the day itelf, the warehouse call to cancel as they said the delivery from malaysia is delayed.

Yesterday, i purposely make plans from my work (i have to work on this saturday) to be at home for the bed frame. Just last minute, the warehouse called to cancel again. This time, their reason is that they have taken the wrong dimensions for the box up of the bedframe. They postpone the date to next wednesday.

This is ridiculous! And imagine we are so hard press for time bec' auspiciously the bed have to be ready b4 end of next week. So we onie left 1 week left then how? Ored the mattress is lying at our bedroom for over 1 week and no bed frame yet.

Really dun know wat to do, somemore M ored paid in full liao. Grumble to him that should have pay onie deposit then they will be more attentive. We threaten to the shop that we will cancel the order if they delay again. I hope they take it seriously and install the bedframe on wednesday properly.

On Wednesday, M called in the morning to confirm on their delivery. But at night, the delivery guy didn't turn up! We waited from 6plus to 9pm and they didn't turn up and didn't call too. M called the warehouse and shop but no one answer the phone. We are so piss off! We are so disappointed that we decided to cancel our order and ask for full refund.

Thursday, M called the warehouse (he is not able to get the shop). The delivery man said he was held up in another delivery and finish work at 10pm onie. M said he should have at least give us a courtesy call. M ask him to come on Friday but he say he prefer thursday. So M took 1.5 hours off and the delivery man finally come at 5pm. He took 2 hours to install the bedframe and wardrobe. M realise that he is a v meticulous and perfectionist man and not time-conscious (cos he initally say he can finish at 1hr but still took 2 hr). No wonder he can take so long on Wednesday at another customer house.

We manage to move our mattress up onto our bedframe yesterday.. hee will take pix after we put on the bedsheets.

Bed and mattress

We bought a King Size Simmons Mattress from Centrepoint Robinsons at a sale in May. Original price cost $4K and I bought at $2Kplus. Consider cheap for Simmons mattress, and they seldom have sales.

We bought a bedframe just early this month from La Cafa (Furniture mall), cost $1K inclusive of a 4.5 feet wardrobe, and we request the bedframe to be box up to the floor (so as to avoid cleaning underneath the bed). The advantage we find at this shop is they do custom make furniture at quite reasonable cost.

When we go back home, we realise that our bedroom indent is made for a queen size bed, not a king size bed, though the whole bedroom size is enuff for king size bed. We decided to look for our ID whether he can help us to box up the indent.

He look at our house last week and suggest that he do a frame with bedside tables instead of boxing up the whole indent. He said the design will be nicer (he always want to do special.. haiz). We gave him our bedframe dimensions, hopefully he can arrange for the works before end of this month.

Feedback on our renovation

After "using" our house for few mths, tink if i got a chance i will want to change/modify the following things/choices:

1) The master bathroom sink is too shallow and water tend to splash out easily, wetting the vanity top. Regret not choosing a more shallow sink. But the sink is chosen for the design we prefer, so unless we change our design too.

2) Dimmer switch for dining light. Dining light is too bright liao, regret not taking electrician advice to do dimmer switch for dining light. Actually dimmer switch for entrance foyer light is redundant cos we seldom on the lights there.

3) Shoe cabinet. Tink a bit too wasteful to have a big shoe cabinet, should have change it to display cum shoe cabinet; or storage cum display cabinet.

4) Curtains. I shd have insisted the curtain supplier to do a curtain pelmet for me.

Choices we make that we are v satisfied with:

1) Light at top kitchen cabinet to shine on the solid surface top. W/o it i tink i am not able to see the things i cook clearly cos i prefer to have light. Even though it is warm light it still fit the purpose.

2) Solid surface top colour. Luckily i insisted to choose a white one with patterns on it. If pure white, dirt etc will be v obvious. Also luckily took ID advice not to choose black solid top cos water stain marks are so obvious.

3) Big mirror at vanity top and wardrobe area. Very useful

4) Suspended vanity top. find it useful as i can easily wash my toilet w/o afraid wetting the vanity cabinets.

5) Laminate flooring. Find v cosy to have it at bedrooms.

6) Feature wall. Like it v much cos we always forget we have a home shelter. Visitors who came didn't even know we have a home shelter.. haaa.

7) Light at wardrobe area. Useful when i am doing makeup at the mirror...

We found tat several items intially we dun really like but we like it now:

1) Display at feature wall. Tink hb say black glass can see dirt easily so need to clean often but it also looked v cool.

2) Kitchen door handle. Initially i dun like and complain it is too small.. but ID say it is fashionable now. And imagine wat!.. I just saw the same handle at a posh condo my co built recently.. heeee... so i feel differently lor.

Our Sofa

This is our Sofa delivered today. Cost about $600 after discount, from Novena furniture (hougang branch). It is half leather and L shape.

Our Fridge

Last sat we saw an advertisement on door to door fridge selling cheaply at Courts. We rushed to courts to purchase at the last min before they close.

Luckily we didn't buy bigger fridge. This fridge barely has space for us to open the doors! So its best not to buy the exact fit i realise. Heng we didn't buy the LG fridge (slightly bigger than this samsung one but will be difficult to open the doors for sure). The courts delivery guys took pains to put the fridge on the base as it is v heavy. They have to use a trolley to take it in.

After that, the gate uncle came to drill the holes. He manage to find a way to repair our gate and our gate is able to lock now (just not very easy to unlock/lock but better than previous state). The floor became v dusty and hb has to mop them (i am too tired after cooking curry). Sat became cleaning day for us, a lot of things accomplish.
